Paa Joe
Born in 1947, Paa Joe is a pioneering Ghanaian coffin artist. He began his apprenticeship in 1960 in his uncle Kane Kwei's workshop in Teshie, and launched his own business in Nungua in 1977. Paa Joe is renowned for his artistic coffins, which are exhibited in prestigious museums such as the British Museum in London, the Royal Ontario Museum in Canada, and the Brooklyn Museum in New York. In 1989, he took part in the exhibition "Les Magiciens de la terre" at the Centre Pompidou, Paris. Paa Joe is also featured in the documentary "Paa Joe & The Lion" by British filmmaker Benjamin Wigley.
