About the artwork
This pair of etchings by Alfonso Ayuso, Faucon and Águila, presents two emblematic birds of prey rendered with remarkable precision and restraint. Each composition isolates the animal on a rocky ground, emphasizing posture, gaze, and physical presence. The falcon stands upright and alert, conveying vigilance and control, while the eagle appears broader and more grounded, expressing power and sovereignty. Ayuso’s refined etching technique is evident in the delicate yet confident line work used to describe the plumage, anatomy, and textures of the birds. The backgrounds remain subtly textured and uncluttered, allowing the figures to emerge with clarity and authority. The limited color palette reinforces the timeless and almost symbolic quality of the images. Printed by Éditions Emilio Jacometti & Cie, Paris, these works are original etchings, signed and numbered by the artist. Faucon is numbered 9/60 and Águila 12/60. They are offered as a matched pair, enhancing their conceptual and visual dialogue.
Expert opinion
