About the artwork
This silkscreen print by Shepard Fairey, characterized by a vibrantly colored composition, depicts the band as silhouettes highlighted by outlines. The use of the star emblem, the dynamic composition, and the striking typography are all hallmarks of Fairey’s style, while paying homage to the cultural significance of Bad Brains. This silkscreen print reflects his early involvement in the skateboarding scene and his admiration for the punk rock spirit. The work clearly references the album *Rock for Light*, the second album by the American rock band Bad Brains, released in 1983. With “Bad Brains,” Shepard Fairey continues his exploration of counterculture and music, themes that dominate his body of work.
