About the artwork
The work features a spindly black figure spitting out strange shapes decorated with masks and geometric patterns inspired by non-Western influences. The figure is encircled by dots bearing the dates 2002, 2003, 2010 and 2014, arranged in orbits. The figure's ethereal, shadow-like appearance highlights one of the main themes explored by the artist in his production: death and chaos. The spindly silhouette and inexpressive masks are reminiscent of the faceless figure in Miyazaki's 2001 film The Voyage of Chihiro, suggesting a harmless monstrosity.
Expert opinion
This work is typical of the artist's production, with the distinct form of the figure and the masks, recurring elements in his work.
About the artist
