About the artwork
This work features human forms that can be identified as a head and a foot. However, no further information can be given about them or their owner, which is characteristic of Georges Tony Stoll's work. Indeed, his work is neither autobiographical, romantic nor psychological. Faces are masked, hidden, hooded, averted or off-camera, rendering his images anonymous and "forcing those who see them to be confronted with an experience of strangeness".
Expert opinion
This photograph is typical of Georges Tony Stoll's work, which questions identity.
