About the artwork
This collage by Hadrien Dussoix features a photograph in which three childlike red drawings stand out against a white background. One appears to represent a face, the other a symbol of peace, and the third is abstract. The choice of red lines, both direct and expressive, contrasts with the immaculate whiteness of the exhibition space, underlining the tension between spontaneity and staging. This work plays on the relationship between the work, its exhibition space, and its reuse as an image, questioning how a work exists and persists in different contexts.
Expert opinion
This collage perfectly illustrates the work of Hadrien Dussoix, who, by inserting a photographed installation into a new frame, hijacks the original work and turns it into an autonomous art object, questioning notions of reproduction and authenticity.
