About the artwork
Composed of three parts bearing the Tiffany & Co logo, an olive branch and the slogan "The Art of Romance", it looks like an advertisement for the famous jewelry house. But a closer look at the olive branch reveals that the artist's distinctive green olives have been replaced by two Viagra pills. This is the key to reading "The Art of Romance" as a romance artificially maintained by drugs. The artist doesn't hesitate to caricature the advertisements of luxury houses that sell dreams, love and eternal beauty.
Expert opinion
With its botanical universe and recognizable apple-green color, this work is characteristic of the artist's humorous caricature.
About the artist
French artist born in 1976. Lives and works in Paris. Developing his artistic practice through tagging as a teenager, he then turned to collage and drawing, making the color apple-green his trademark. LUDO's original blend of plant life and robotics creates a hybrid world that questions man's place in the environment. Represented by Galerie Danysz (Paris, London, Shanghai) for many years, he has exhibited at the Centre Pompidou (Paris, France), the Centre de la gravure et de l'image imprimée (La Louvière, Belgium) and the Shanghai Power Station of Art Museum (China).
