About the artwork
In his own deliberately simplified style, Mike Lee places three two-tone figures in a round frame. The themes addressed here are those of lack, sadness and reunion, as indicated by the title I've Missed You - I'm sorry. The central figure, taller than the other two, seems to take on a parental role, and, while carrying a child on her back, brings the latter close to her in a comforting, protective gesture.
Expert opinion
This work perfectly reflects the artist's work from its beginnings to 2020, marking a turning point in his visual identity. The round format is also rarer for Mike Lee, which undeniably adds value to this work.
