About the artwork
By combining a comic-book-inspired aesthetic in the foreground with a darker, blurred background, Bryce Delplanque invites the viewer to rediscover everyday life from a new angle. He has always been fascinated by the genre of still life, and is a descendant of the Dutch and French works of the 17th century. The artist draws on our collective imagination, subtly modifying certain visual elements. The composition, remarkably balanced and harmonious, creates a striking contrast with the pot in the foreground, which stands out for its color and distinct pictorial treatment. For Bryce Bryce Delplanque, images are a primordial source that he explores and reinterprets, working with finesse in his chosen medium.
