About the artwork
This photograph is a black-and-white portrait of a young boy. It is part of the “Azemmour” series, in which Hicham Benohoud offers a contemporary and poetic interpretation of the Moroccan city of Azemmour. Located at the mouth of the Oum Errabiaa River, Azemmour is a city with a rich history, having been home to the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, and Romans in succession. Through his photographs, Benohoud invites the viewer on an intimate exploration of this city, where history and modernity intertwine.
