Hicham Benohoud

Born in 1968 in Marrakech, Hicham Benohoud is a multi-faceted artist. After graduating in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in visual arts, he went on to teach visual arts, an experience that influenced his artistic practice. Photography occupies a central place in Hicham Benohoud's interdisciplinary practice, which ranges from painting to new media. He makes the link between identity politics and power relations, often using his own body in his photographs. His often staged works question social and cultural codes, offering a unique perspective on contemporary Moroccan society. Since 1998, Hicham Benohoud's work has been exhibited internationally, notably at the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Grand Palais, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. He has also exhibited at the Hayward Gallery in London.
