About the artwork

This striking work by David Negri is fully in line with the Street Art and Neo-Expressionist movements. Against a deep black background that reinforces the intensity of the colors, the artist brings to life an expressive face, deconstructed by dripping paint and vibrant projections. The color palette, dominated by neon pink, lemon yellow, electric blue and touches of white, creates a striking contrast that immediately catches the eye. Stylized facial features, wide-open eyes and an expressive mouth. The use of spray-painted lettering, notably the inscription "FUCKING HELL" at the bottom, adds a dimension of rebellion and urgency characteristic of urban art. The work evokes a sense of raw emotion, controlled chaos and freedom of expression.

Expert opinion

This Skunkdog canvas condenses all the raw, subversive energy of his universe: a deconstructed face springs up amid a chaos of fluorescent colors, thick drips and raging words that recall the punk spirit and urgency of urban graffiti. The contrast between the dark background and the neon flashes intensifies the expressive violence, giving the whole a dimension that is both visceral and ironic.

About the artist

Born in 1968, Skunkdog, whose real name is David Negri, is a French artist living in Marseille. Although he inherited his passion for painting from his father, he began his painting career relatively late in Paris. Exhibiting his work for the first time in Provence, he soon obtained new opportunities, and took his work as far as New York. Between France and the United States, SkunkDog has developed an artistic style fusing figurative art, art brut and urban art. Working on a crude medium with only his imagination as a constraint, he nevertheless produced an exhibition in tribute to Serge Gainsbourg.
