About the artwork
Eugène Titov depicts a three-quarter-length woman, absorbed in the small pink flower she is delicately smelling. Adorned with jewels and an elegant headdress, she is surrounded by a halo of floral and geometric motifs, in a subtle gradation of blue and pale pink. The work's golden background is reminiscent of Russian icons, yet inspired by Gustav Klimt's ornamental portraits. This fusion of Russian and European traditions creates a sacred, intimate atmosphere. In this richly decorated composition, Titov crystallizes portraits of timeless women.

This portrait, a cross between Russian tradition and echoes of Klimt's work, is characteristic of the work of artist Eugène Titov.
About the artist
Eugène Titov was born in 1969 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), Russia. He studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts, where he was trained in classical painting. The artist is best known for his figurative portraits, often influenced by the style of Gustav Klimt, in which he blends decorative elements and subtle textural work.
