Eugène Titov

Eugène Titov was born in 1969 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), Russia. He studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts, where he was trained in classical painting. The artist is best known for his figurative portraits, often influenced by the style of Gustav Klimt, in which he blends decorative elements and subtle textural work. Titov creates compositions in which human faces and bodies are treated in a detailed, ornamental manner, often surrounded by gilded motifs or floral elements reminiscent of Art Nouveau. Notable exhibitions include presentations at the Moscow Biennial of Contemporary Art in 2005 and at the State Russian Museum gallery in St. Petersburg in 2014.
