With their cross-eyed faces emblematic of KAWS's work, these three little mickey-suited "Companions" are distorted by the influence of Robert Lazzarini's flowing universe.
About the artist
Brian Donnelly (b. 1974), aka KAWS, and Robert Lazzarini (b. 1965) are American artists living and working in New York. Both graduates of the School of Visual Arts in New York, their worlds come together in a reinterpretation of KAWS's famous "Companion" with the distortion of Robert Lazzarini's figures. In the style of a Disney figurine, a world in which KAWS worked before embarking on his career as a graffiti artist, this 2010 collaboration resulted in three colorways of "Distorted Companion".
