Red Bear Boy

Mayuka Yamamoto was born in Okayama, Japan, in 1964. She completed her master's degree at Musashino Art University in Tokyo in 1990 before undertaking further studies in London through the Japanese Government Overseas Study Program for Artists until 1999. Her oeuvre is defined by figurative depictions of children wearing animal costumes or integrated with animal features. Exhibiting internationally in cities such as Tokyo, Amsterdam, Taipei, and New York, she has established a distinct presence within contemporary Japanese art. Her works are regularly handled by galleries such as Gallery Tsubaki and Corey Helford Gallery, as well as major auction houses.
