PURPOSE

This composition, created in 2024, presents a dense, monochromatic landscape that appears to depict an urban or semi-urban environment. The image is characterized by a high contrast between dark, textured areas and lighter, more defined architectural forms, suggesting a settlement nestled within a rugged or overgrown terrain. The risograph technique contributes to the granular texture and stark visual quality of the piece. The artwork's surface has been hand-finished by the artist using bleach, a subtractive process that aligns with Vhils' broader artistic methodology of "creative destruction" and revealing hidden layers. This intervention introduces subtle variations and unique marks to each impression within the edition, enhancing the visual depth and materiality of the printed image.
