Vhils

Alexandre Farto, alias Vhils, is a Portuguese artist born in 1987. He lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal. Vhils became active in Lisbon's graffiti scene in the early 2000s. His work gained significant recognition in 2008 when Banksy invited him to participate in London's Cans Festival, where he was celebrated for his innovative contributions to the urban art scene. Vhils has exhibited at major institutions worldwide, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the CAFA Art Museum in Beijing, and the Cincinnati Contemporary Art Center, which hosted his first monographic exhibition in the United States in 2020. Until September 2022, the MAAT (Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology) in Lisbon dedicated a monumental, immersive exhibition to him, focusing on video and presenting a new visual language of the city in slow motion.
