About the artwork
Adopting the artist's signature neon-green touch, this work recalls the botanical illustrations that flourished from the Renaissance onwards, in a bid to better understand the earth's flora and fauna. By bringing together a pineapple and a skull, LUDO creates an unlikely pairing that questions man's place in nature. New order or contemporary utopia? This is the question the artist poses to us in order to put current environmental issues into perspective, all in an explosive urban punk style.
Expert opinion
Like a contemporary botanist, LUDO questions man's relationship with nature with great originality, and from this marriage emerges a hybrid creation both deeply rooted in contemporary climate debates and in street and punk culture. Punk Pineapple thus offers art that is committed to the urban codes of this generation of artists, fully in tune with the times.
About the artist
French artist born in 1976. Lives and works in Paris. Developing his artistic practice through tagging as a teenager, he then turned to collage and drawing, making the color apple-green his trademark. LUDO's original blend of plant life and robotics creates a hybrid world that questions man's place in the environment. Represented by Galerie Danysz (Paris, London, Shanghai) for many years, he has exhibited at the Centre Pompidou (Paris, France), the Centre de la gravure et de l'image imprimée (La Louvière, Belgium) and the Shanghai Power Station of Art Museum (China).
