About the artwork
Produced in 2015, Tracey Emin's My Favourite Little Bird is a 500-copy color offset lithograph on 250 gsm satin-finish paper, published by Emin International in London. Measuring 70 x 50 cm, the work takes up the artist's characteristic neon aesthetic, translated here into a printed medium. A delicately sketched bird, resting on a flowering branch, appears as if traced by electric light in a vibrant blue hue, standing out against a dark background that accentuates the luminous effect. The artist's signature, integrated into the composition, reinforces the personal, intimate character of the image. True to his visual language, Emin manages to combine fragility of line with emotional intensity, transforming a simple motif into a poetic statement. The quality of the 250 gsm satin paper restores the chromatic depth and illusion of luminous halo of the original neon works, while preserving the finesse of the handwritten drawing.
Expert opinion
My Favourite Little Bird continues Tracey Emin's research into the writing of gesture and immediate emotion. The artist has frequently used neon as a medium to express intimate feelings, combining confession, desire and vulnerability in a direct visual language. This lithograph subtly transposes this aesthetic into an edited format, offering collectors a faithful interpretation of her luminous universe. The print run of 500 reflects a desire for wider distribution, while retaining the formal authenticity associated with his work. Published by Emin International, this edition benefits from a solid institutional framework and clear traceability. It will be of interest to collectors attracted by the autobiographical and emotional dimension of Tracey Emin's work, as well as to those wishing to acquire a piece representative of her exploration of neon and luminous drawing in an accessible format.
About the artist
Tracey Emin is a British artist born in London in 1963, and associated with the Young British Artists movement that profoundly influenced the art scene in the UK in the nineties. Her largely autobiographical work explores themes of love, sexuality, vulnerability, loss and identity in a wide variety of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, neon, video, embroidery and installation. She achieved international recognition with emblematic works such as My Bed, presented in 1999 and now a symbol of radical confessional art. Handwritten language, often direct and emotionally charged, is a central element of her practice, particularly in her neon works, which translate intimate statements into luminous messages displayed in public spaces. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy in 2007, Tracey Emin has had major exhibitions in international institutions and her work is included in numerous public and private collections, confirming her essential role in the evolution of contemporary art centered on personal experience and subjectivity.
