About the artwork
This work entitled Loop_Org_paleCyan_2a, created by Jason Revok in 2020, is a silkscreen print in an edition of 75, of which this one is number 74. The composition is based on a system of repeated lines forming a concentric structure that draws the eye to a central point, creating an almost hypnotic effect of depth. The lines, deliberately irregular, retain a gestural dimension that contrasts with the geometric rigor of the whole. The chromatic palette, articulated around pale cyan and warm orange tones, accentuates optical vibrations and reinforces the sensation of movement. The image thus oscillates between stability and imbalance, offering a reading that is both structured and dynamic, characteristic of the artist's visual research.
Expert opinion
This work continues Jason Revok's research into line, rhythm and repetition, which form the core of his abstract language. Coming from a graffiti background, the artist has developed a practice in which the initial gesture is transformed into a mastered visual system, without losing its tension or energy. The serigraphs in this series are particularly appreciated for their technical precision and their ability to produce an immersive visual experience. Loop_Org_paleCyan_2a bears witness to an assertive artistic maturity, where color and structure dialogue with subtlety. It is a coherent and sought-after work, relevant for a collector sensitive to the links between contemporary abstraction and urban culture.
About the artist
Born in 1977 in Riverside, California, Jason Revok lives and works in Detroit, Michigan. Self-taught, he began his artistic practice in the world of graffiti, before devoting himself to a studio practice, exploring and evolving both his creative processes and artistic concepts. Although he has retained certain emblematic elements of graffiti in his contemporary work, such as modest materials and his name, his studio work has enabled him to create large-scale tools to assist him in creation and in his reinterpretation of minimalist art, which established precise patterns that removed the subjectivity of the hand. Jason Revok's work has been exhibited in museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Pasadena Museum of California Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Detroit. His work has also been shown in international galleries, including the Martin Asbæk Gallery in Copenhagen in 2020 and the Saatchi Gallery in London in 2023.
