About the artwork
This work features a newlywed couple. It is part of a series in which Jean-Christian Bourcart revisits wedding photographs from the 1970s, which he has recovered from the clichés rejected by customers. These images, often blurred or technically imperfect, offer an offbeat look at traditional representations of wedded bliss. Exhibited publicly, notably in front of a church, these photographs question the stereotypes associated with marriage and the family.
Expert opinion
In the "Les Mariages" series, Jean-Christian Bourcart stands out for his ability to subvert the conventions associated with marriage.
