About the artwork
This poster reuses the famous photograph taken by Richard Hamilton of Marcel Duchamp's famous eyewitness. This optical disk, inspired by vision tests, is part of Le Grand Verre, a complex work about desire and the mechanics of human relationships. Here, Duchamp plays with the way we see and interpret, introducing an irony about our perception and the gaze. Richard Hamilton recounts that the poster was made from a photograph he took while Duchamp was signing the glasses for the multiple.
