About the artwork
This work plunges us into an interior directed towards a glass roof offering a splendid sea view. In this luxurious calm, a rope runs through the entire composition, while tiles seem to levitate. These tiles allow Jean-Pierre Henaut to demonstrate his mastery of perspective, notably through the remarkable interplay of shadows. The overall composition is perfectly geometrical, but interrupted by external natural elements such as the tree and island in the background. A master at depicting highly structured perspectives and ocean views, Jean-Pierre Henaut presents us, with his usual artistic signature, with a composition divided into four. The hues, mainly blue and yellow, evoke the aesthetics of modern coastal architecture, while the presence of the high, tiled wall plunges us into an indoor swimming pool. The geometric structure and warm light of the work recall the Californian architectural designs of the 1960s, evoking David Hockney's famous swimming pools.
Expert opinion
This work is characteristic of the artist's production for its levitating object, pronounced geometry and use of blue and yellow colors.
