About the artwork
This black-and-white work presents a profile portrait in which a woman's face emerges from a swirl of dynamic strokes and blurred textures. Done in charcoal, the drawing plays on the contrast between detailed, realistic areas (notably the eye and mouth) and more abstract ones, where the line seems to fade into a vaporous atmosphere. A recurring motif in Filite's work is the use of symbolic elements, represented here by shapes reminiscent of butterfly wings, which merge with the face. The butterfly, a universal symbol of transformation and hope, reinforces the title of the work (Hope), suggesting a message of resilience and renewal.
