Rana Begum sublimates the simplicity of the material to offer a delicate, immersive optical experience. Her work reveals a rare mastery of light and color, inscribing her abstraction in a tradition that is both spiritual and contemporary.
About the artist
Born in 1977 in Sylhet (Bangladesh), Rana Begum lives and works in London. A graduate of Chelsea College of Art and Design and the Slade School of Fine Art, her work combines sculpture, painting and installation, influenced by Islamic architecture, light and the repetition of motifs.
