About the artwork
Based on the principle of a treasure map, this map by Invader invites us to retrace the traces of his "invasion" of the Tunisian island of Djerba. The artist fully embraces this aesthetic, indicating points of interest with red crosses and using yellowed, aged paper with burnt edges. For this, his 79th invasion project, Invader proposes an itinerary of 58 works hidden throughout the island. As the setting for the film Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope, the artist's project multiplies references to the George Lucas saga. This map is the lasting trace of this large-scale project, in an aesthetic new to the artist's work.
Expert opinion
Signed by the artist, this particular edition concludes Invader's 2019 invasion project and is charged with a special symbolic value.
