Produced in collaboration with the Japanese manufacturer Medicom Toy and the artist's former retail venture OriginalFake, the object merges the structural form of an articulated bear figurine with anatomical cutaway details. The left side displays standard exterior features including the iconic cross-eyed facial expression, while the right side and rear reveal exposed skeletal formations, internal organs, and muscular striations in a monochromatic gradient of grey and charcoal tones. The piece utilizes rotational joints at the neck, shoulders, wrists, waist, and hips, allowing for positional adjustments. This cross-section presentation references classic anatomical models while operating within the discourse of commercial art toys and serial production.

About the artist
American artist born in 1974. Lives and works in New York (USA). Graduate of the School of Visual Arts, New York. Initially a graffiti artist, Kaws reappropriates the language of advertising in a style that blends Pop Art, comic strips and other cultural references. Through his practice, he plays on the boundary between academicism and commercial distribution, questioning the relationship between contemporary art and capitalism. Kaws is a veritable artistic phenomenon who has gathered around him a committed and loyal community of collectors. His work can be found in the collections of the High Museum in Atlanta and the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas.
