Xavier Veilhan

Born in 1963, Xavier Veilhan is a French visual artist based in Paris. Inspired by formal classicism, he has been working since the late 1980s on a body of work marked by high technology. A versatile graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, his work spans multiple media including sculpture, painting, installation, performance, video and photography. Developing his own geometry, he creates a dialogue between lines and curves, appropriating the contours of his subjects. His exhibitions question our perception and often generate an evolving, ambulatory space in which the public becomes an actor. Xavier Veilhan's work is often exhibited in public spaces, with his sculptures occupying numerous cities in France and abroad, including Paris, Stockholm, New York, Shanghai and Seoul. His work was exhibited at the Château de Versailles in 2008, and he represented the French pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale.
