Richard Long

Born in Bristol in 1945, Richard Long is a British artist. He studied at the West of England School of Art and St. Martin's School of Art in London. A painter and sculptor, he also creates installations, and is considered the father of Land art. He is famous for his permanent and ephemeral works using natural materials and addressing the relationship between man and nature. His works trace his travels through the landscapes of England, Scotland and the American West. Internationally recognized, his work has been exhibited in some of the world's most prestigious institutions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney (Australia) in 1994, the National Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto (Japan) in 1996, the Tate Britain in London (UK) in 2009 and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam (Netherlands) in 2023.
