RAKAJOO

Born in 1986, Rakajoo (aka Baye-Dam Cissé) lives and works in Choisy-le-Roi. An emerging talent on the French scene, he is a versatile, self-taught artist who positions himself through his art as a "witness" to the flux that characterizes our modern societies. The artist was first spotted in 2008 with a gigantic 300 m2 fresco he executed for his boxing club in Aubervilliers. He was then invited to create an exhibition on the theme of sport for the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation's annual event at the Théâtre du Châtelet in December of the same year. This was to be the starting point of his career as a painter, which led him to take part in various group exhibitions such as Boxe! Boxe ! at the Fondation Blachère in 2012, or Festival 12x12 at the Musée national de l'histoire de l'immigration in Paris in 2015. Now represented by Galerie Danysz, Rakajoo had his first major solo show at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris) in 2023, and was included in an exhibition at the Louvre-Lens in 2024.
