PRO 176

Born in Paris in 1976, PRO 176 grew up in the suburbs of Paris and began drawing at the age of 5, inspired by the famous American comic book artist Jack Kirby. Influenced by urban artists such as Mode2 and Colt, he dropped out of school to take up graffiti. In 1996, he joined the Grim-Team, a group of Parisian graffiti artists, and went on to become a member of CP5, GT, UB and RTZ. It wasn't until 1997 that he adopted the name "PRO 176". Claiming a new graffiti aesthetic, mixing Marvels, futuristic abstract mathematics, alphabetic constructivism and Picasso cubism, his style, influenced by the Jack Kirby universe, is characterized by futuristic machines and spaceships from science-fiction films. More recently, his palette of vivid colors has given rise to large abstract figures colored and outlined in black, like comic-book bubbles. After a foray into music with three self-produced albums and over 500 concerts in France and abroad, in 2014 he published a monograph entitled Cosmonometry, exploring his artistic evolution. Since 2007, he has been exhibiting his work in galleries. PRO 176 is represented by Galerie Géraldine Zberro in Paris and Galerie David Pluskwa in Marseille.
