Patrick Sainton

Born in 1956, Patrick Sainton is a French artist living in Marseille. Playing between writing, collage, drawing and painting, he works poetically on themes of the individual and interiority, using chance and instinct. Known for his Poèmes Tombés series, he deposits words collected from newspapers on the surface of paper. His compositions, somewhere between abstract and figurative, deliberately disturb the viewer's understanding. Patrick Sainton has exhibited widely, notably in France. In 1992, he took part in a group show at the Centre George Pompidou (Paris), in 1999 in Liège and in 2006 at the Musée départemental de Gap. Also a writer, whose words are both poetic and philosophical, he published 3 works between 1997 and 2009: Abandons, Ce soir j'aperçois ma tête d'orage, and Battre le cœur. Battre.
