Naval Luce

Born in Paris in 1938, Luce Naval was attracted to art from an early age. Initially focusing on sculpture and painting, she discovered and devoted herself to color etching in the mid-1960s. At the age of 17, she entered the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris, then continued her training at the Atelier Yancesse Beaux-Arts, before spending five years at the legendary Atelier 17. Her quest for excellence also took her to Madrid (Académie San Fernando) and Denmark (Kunst Academiet Beaux-Arts de Copenhague). She has won numerous competitions. Over the past five decades, she has organized solo and group exhibitions of her prints all over the world, including Australia, the United States and all over Europe. Her prints are archived at the Bibliothèque nationale (Paris), the Bibliothèque royale Albert Ier (Brussels), Artoteket (Sweden) and the Museo de la Gravure (Buenos Aires). She currently resides in the French countryside, in a small village in southern Burgundy, where she keeps her studio. Rediscovered at 83, Luce has since exhibited her work in the United States.
