Leo Dorfner

Born in 1985, Leo Dorfner lives and works in Paris. Having taken up watercolor at an early age, he went on to study at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts in Paris (Djamel Tatah studio) and Caen. Drawing on the transparency of watercolor, he perfected his practice with assemblages of images gleaned from the Internet or from his own work. By highlighting the skin in his works, he also explores the aesthetics of tattooing, which he appreciates, sometimes using it to integrate a textual dimension into his artistic production. A leading figure in French contemporary art, Leo Dorfner has exhibited his work internationally, including at the Philharmonie de Paris, the Paju Museum in South Korea, the ECI Cultuurfabriek in Roermond, Netherlands, and Studio Khana in Cairo, Egypt. He is represented by Galerie Claire Gastaud, based in Clermont-Ferrand and Paris.
