Hervé MARTIJN

Born in Belgium in 1957, Hervé Martijn is an artist whose work explores the relationship between painting, matter and perception. His practice develops around a physical engagement with the surface, where gesture, texture and repetition occupy a central place. Through often structured compositions, Hervé Martijn questions the memory of forms, trace and time. His work is characterized by a constant tension between mastery and chance, formal rigor and freedom of gesture. Color, used with restraint or intensity depending on the period, acts as a vector of vibration and depth. His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions and can be found in private and public collections.
