About the artwork
This stencil by Alessio-B portrays the American artist Keith Haring. Holding our gaze with intensity, it seems to be trying to tell us something. The word "REBEL", in red at the top of the composition, suggests that Alessio-B and his partner Keith Haring are urging us to adopt a committed stance. While the portrait of the famous American artist is in black and white, the usual two-color stencil, the more decorative background is a hopeful green.
Expert opinion
Keith Haring is part of Alessio-B's personal and artistic pantheon. A leader of graffiti art and symbol of a committed generation, he has left his mark on the careers of many artists.
About the artist
Born in Italy, Alessio-B is a stencil artist whose message-driven works offer the viewer peace and contemplation. Although drawing has always accompanied the artist since childhood, his artistic practice really began when, on a trip to Paris, he discovered the works of urban artists Blek Le Rat and Banksy. He began stenciling and using the walls of his home as his first field of experimentation. Influenced by Pop Art, rock music and the icons of his generation, he infuses his work with this contemporary culture. Alessio-B has collaborated and exhibited his work in numerous art galleries in Italy and Europe. In 2013, he took part in the Venice Biennale with the exhibition Back2Back.
