About the artwork
This work, a reflection of Veenom's universe, brings together a variety of inspirations. Pin-ups from the 1950s, underground comics from the 1960s, cartoon characters from the 1970s, punk album covers from the 1980s and engravings from fairytales and fables are all taken as inspirations and, in a skilful blend, create a unique and singular work. The female character, tattooed on the left arm, is a subtle reference to the practice of the artist, who has been tattooing since he was 20, where the touches of color seem to be the beginnings of his future, more colorful creations.
Expert opinion
The fruit of a complex artist whose style and practices are constantly evolving, this work stands at the junction of his early career and his current works. As such, it is a unique piece, which makes it particularly interesting and enjoyable.
About the artist
Born in 1977, Veenom is a multidisciplinary artist whose style is rooted in the world of old-school tattooing. In 2010, he and Jeykill founded the Bleu Noir concept store in Paris. At the heart of this atypical space dedicated to the art of tattooing, Veenom develops his naïve, dreamlike universe and his various artistic productions, including tattoos, murals, editions and collaborations with famous brands such as Carhartt and Gorilla. Mirrors of his fantasies and phobias, his drawings and paintings are for him a faithful retranscription and outlet for his most intimate emotions.
