About the artist
Born in 1978, Yusuke Hanai is a Japanese artist. Having studied illustration at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, he creates sulky characters in his American cartoon style. Inspired by Rick Griffin albums, American culture and skateboarding/surfing, he was noticed by brands such as Vans and Burton, with whom he collaborated. His work is now internationally recognized, as evidenced by his numerous exhibitions, including one in Hong Kong in 2021.
