About the artwork

On an iron canvas, the outline of a hooded woman is photographed and printed on wood, then enhanced by the green light emanating from an LED. Filippo Fiumani uses this space like a tagged wall to express himself. Like an ode to street art, the viewer navigates between figures à la Banksy or Basquiat. Directly immersed in the artist's imaginary world - "Strange days inside my head", "Life is a bitch" or "Direction is more important than speed" - the viewer seems to be confronted with his deepest, most intimate thoughts. Indeed, this work is the diary of the artist's burn-out, and he doesn't hesitate to share his emotions with his audience.

Expert opinion

This extremely rich body of work provides an overview of Filippo Fiumani's originality. It combines the use of light, video, drawing, photography and the recovery of various materials. Emblematic of his creativity, The end is fear is fully in line with the continuity of his work and was the main piece in his CAZZO! exhibition at Underdogs gallery in 2021.

About the artist

Born in 1987, Filippo Fiumani aka MANI is an Italian multidisciplinary artist based in Lisbon and represented by Galerie Underdogs. Actor, performer and visual artist, he is also interested in urban art. Based on skate/punk culture, he draws inspiration from street art, trash, video, photography and technology to create a unique aesthetic in a world of his own. He sees art as a means of communication rather than a mere object, at the service of human and social values. Defining himself as a gipsy, he is constantly on the lookout for new techniques and lifestyles. Since 2017, Fiumani has focused on the theme of recycling, reusing human waste such as wood, metal and plastic by combining it with technology. An international artist, his work is exhibited in Canada, the United States, Europe and Australia.
