About the artwork

By combining a comic-book-inspired aesthetic in the foreground with a darker, blurred background, Bryce Delplanque invites the viewer to rediscover everyday life from a new angle. He has always been fascinated by the genre of still life, and is a descendant of the Dutch and French works of the 17th century. The artist draws on our collective imagination, subtly modifying certain visual elements. The composition, remarkably balanced and harmonious, creates a striking contrast with the pot in the foreground, which stands out for its color and distinct pictorial treatment. For Bryce Bryce Delplanque, images are a primordial source that he explores and reinterprets, working with finesse in his chosen medium.

Expert opinion

Although still life is often perceived as an outdated genre, Bryce Delplanque reveals its relevance and topicality through works such as this one. His themes question our relationship with nature and objects, elevating them to the status of subjects worthy of attention.
