About the artwork
This pair is part of the Vault by Vans x Takashi Murakami collection, which was released globally on June 27, 2015, for fall 2015, in six unisex adult colorways plus a range of toddler sizes. The model is based on the Classic Slip-On—Murakami’s favorite Vans silhouette and the one he wears daily in his studio—and features his smiling flower motif in a blue colorway on canvas, one of the collection’s two signature motifs alongside the skull. Murakami’s own dog, Pom, appears as a small detail on the insole above the Vans skateboard logo. The pair comes with its original box and a floral canvas drawstring bag, elements that contribute to the integrity of the complete collector’s set.

He is best known for his collaborations with the world of luxury and fashion, including Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton. His works have been exhibited worldwide, including at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the Château de Versailles.
