About the artwork
The composition juxtaposes sensual realism and dreamlike symbolism, creating a dialogue between the inner and outer worlds. The title, Dream for Winter, evokes both introspection and escape, inviting the viewer to contemplate solitude and beauty suspended in time. Produced in 1973, this work illustrates Ayuso's mastery of lithographic technique and his interest in the human form as a vector of emotion and imagination.
Expert opinion
In this refined lithograph, Spanish artist Alfonso Ayuso explores the poetic tension between intimacy and the imaginary. A female nude, rendered in delicate chiaroscuro, stands before a lace-patterned background, gazing out over a surreal landscape framed like a window - a dreamlike vision of rocky peaks emerging from the mist.
