About the artwork
In a bid for immediacy, SkunkDog duplicates the word "Now" and sketches this drawing, conveying a certain speed of execution. He humanizes his work by using the portrait of his character with big glasses, red mouth and electrified hair, which he places at the center of his work as a messenger of a feeling that would be common to the Punk community, that of urgency.
Expert opinion
Defining his art as both "primitive" and "urban", this piece is emblematic of his work.
About the artist
Born in 1968, Skunkdog, whose real name is David Negri, is a French artist living in Marseille. Although he inherited his passion for painting from his father, he began his painting career relatively late in Paris. Exhibiting his work for the first time in Provence, he soon obtained new opportunities, and took his work as far as New York. Between France and the United States, SkunkDog has developed an artistic style fusing figurative art, art brut and urban art. Working on a crude medium with only his imagination as a constraint, he nevertheless produced an exhibition in tribute to Serge Gainsbourg.
“It's the beginning of transhumanism, it's completely primitive and completely urban, and that's what we're experiencing right now.”
