About the artwork

Created in 2013, Peace and Justice Woman is a screenprint by Shepard Fairey that reflects two of the central themes that have defined his artistic practice: social justice and peace. The composition features a female figure presented in the artist's iconic graphic style, surrounded by symbolic elements that evoke balance, harmony and civic responsibility. Executed in Fairey's characteristic red, black and cream palette, the work combines influences from propaganda posters, Art Deco design and activist imagery, creating a powerful and timeless visual statement.

Expert opinion

Peace and Justice Woman is a strong example of Shepard Fairey's ability to merge political ideals with highly refined graphic design. The female figure functions as both a portrait and an allegorical symbol, embodying values that frequently appear throughout the artist's work. Collectors appreciate this print for its elegant composition, universal message and classic OBEY aesthetic. Published in a limited edition of 450, it represents an important example of Fairey's socially engaged practice and remains a desirable work for collectors of contemporary urban and political art.
