About the artwork

This iconic lithograph by Shepard Fairey, created in 2020, features the famous stylized face from the OBEY campaign, which has become a major symbol of contemporary street art. Printed on thick white art paper, the work plays on a strong contrast between black and white, underlined by the red band bearing the word OBEY, the artist's true visual signature. Through an aesthetic inspired by propaganda and political graphics, this image questions notions of power, authority and visual conditioning. The work is hand-signed by the artist, offered as an open edition and sold unframed, in an imposing 91 x 61 cm format.

Expert opinion

OBEY Icon occupies a central place in Shepard Fairey's work, and is a founding image of his visual language. Through a simple, immediately identifiable iconography, the artist manages to condense a critical reflection on the mechanisms of propaganda and the omnipresence of images in the public space. This signed lithograph, produced on high-quality paper, offers a relevant and coherent entry into the artist's world, while retaining a strong symbolic impact. It will appeal to both discerning collectors and amateurs wishing to acquire an emblematic work from the history of street art.
