About the artwork
Taking his title from the words of Bob Marley's famous song, Mihoub presents a figure with a few facial features and a stylized heart. With a thick brushstroke adding a new dimension to his work, the artist offers us a profusion of symbols and colors reminiscent of Jean-Michel Basquiat's practice. Although his work is often associated with art brut - a term used by Jean Dubuffet to designate artists unaware of creating art - Mihoub asserts his artistic approach and prefers to define himself by Socrates' quotation: "All I know is that I know nothing".
Expert opinion
Mihoub's canvas is distinguished by a saturation of symbols and pictorial matter concentrated on the figure, while the yellow background breaks with the horror of emptiness usually present in his work.
