No Ball Games,Grey presents two children playing with a prohibition sign as though it were a ball. The monochrome figures and sharply isolated red sign use the economy of stencil language to make the act of disobedience immediately readable. The image redirects an instrument of public control into play,giving the work its characteristic balance of humor,accessibility and social critique.
The stated technique is screenprint in colors on paper. It measures approximately 70 × 70 cm. The screenprinted layers preserve the hard edges and limited tonal range associated with stencil production. About the artist
One of the most recognized anonymous figures in urban art, Banksy is an English artist supposedly born in 1974. Since the 1990s, he has been making a name for himself with his provocative works, introducing the codes of the urban scene to the general public. His most acclaimed works are charged with a strong political message, denouncing both consumer society and political abuse. In 2018, Banksy made art market history with the self-destruction of Girl with Balloon, seconds after the hammer was struck, resulting in a new work entitled Love is in the bin.
