About the artwork
The composition features a light, possibly off-white, background with numerous dark, amorphous shapes scattered across the canvas. These dark forms are surrounded by and intermingle with reddish-pink washes and drips, suggesting a fluid application of paint. The surface exhibits textural variations, indicating the use of mixed media to create depth and tactile qualities.
The arrangement of the dark shapes appears organic and somewhat random, lacking a strict geometric pattern. The reddish-pink elements often radiate outwards from these darker forms, creating a sense of movement and diffusion. Small black specks are also present, adding to the overall texture and visual rhythm of the piece. This work employs a non-representational approach, focusing on color, form, and texture to evoke a particular aesthetic experience. The interplay between the dark, solid shapes and the lighter, more translucent washes creates a contrast that defines the visual structure of the canvas.
Expert opinion
This artwork positions itself within the broader context of contemporary abstraction, utilizing expressive gestures and a limited color palette to achieve its visual effect. The artist's background, including his education in visual communication and his involvement in both Iranian and German art communities, suggests a potential synthesis of cultural influences within his practice. The market for Keyvan Roshanbin is nascent, with limited auction records indicating an early stage of market establishment. His participation in various group and solo exhibitions, particularly in Germany and Iran, contributes to his developing profile.
