About the artwork
"Margot" depicts a stylized female figure of deliberately naive, childlike proportions. The figure is built from simple forms, and the composition is balanced and centered, with floral elements at the base of the sculpture. This work is part of an artistic approach that celebrates authenticity and instinctive creativity. The naïve style and bright colors used by Christophe Jehan recall the influences of art brut or the creations of artists such as Niki de Saint Phalle, with a desire to capture an immediate and universal joy.
Expert opinion
Margot is a perfect illustration of Christophe Jehan's style, reflecting his sensitive, intuitive approach.
About the artist
Born in 1961, Christophe Jehan is an artist living and working in France. After an initial career as an architect, he decided to devote himself to his art. He quickly imagined his own universe, a fantasy world where candid characters and naïve animals rub shoulders with humor. The bright, irresistibly cheerful colors of his palette give him a style all his own, classifying him among the so-called "free figuration" painters. Christophe Jehan first exhibited in Saint Jean de Luz, where he attracted a large public, then in Biarritz, Cap Ferret, Paris, etc. He subsequently took part in major contemporary art shows, notably those in Brussels and Paris. Since 1999, his work has been exhibited exclusively and permanently at the 4 Galerie Estades sites in Paris, Lyon, Toulon and Baden-Baden (Germany).
